What is the GLA:D program?
The GLA:D® program (Good Life with Arthritis: Denmark) is an education and exercise program developed by researchers in Denmark for people with hip or knee osteoarthritis (OA) symptoms.
The program involves 12 exercises and 2 education sessions over a 3-month period.
This program is unique in that the education and exercises provided can be applied to everyday activities. By strengthening and correcting daily movement patterns, participants will train their bodies to move with confidence, prevent symptom progression and reduce pain.
What are the benefits of GLA:D®?
The GLA:D® Program has been shown to be effective at reducing the burden of OA on patients and the community, without the possible negative side effects of medication and surgery.
GLA:D® has been shown to result in *significant reductions in pain, *improvements in function and levels of physical activity,* reductions in sick leave and use of pain medication and *best treatment to delay or avoid hip or knee surgery due to osteoarthritis.
